THAILAND’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin condemned the attack on Israel and ordered preparations to fly its citizens home after an unprecedented assault launched by Hamas militants on Saturday killed at least a dozen Thai nationals.
Thailand’s foreign ministry said that another eight Thai nationals have been injured since the violence erupted on Saturday.
According to the labor minister, some 5,000 Thai laborers work in the zone where fighting is currently taking place but assured Israeli forces started moving them to safety.
More than 1,000 citizens are scheduled to go home.
Air Force planes have been prepared to fly citizens back home.
Meanwhile, a Thai couple is convinced that their son, who was a resident of northeastern Thailand, was one of the 11 citizens captured by Hamas militants based on a picture they saw on social media.
The parents of the kidnapped Thai national pleaded with authorities to ensure their son’s safe return.
Their 26-year-old Thai national is a breadwinner of their family and earns 50,000 baht every month by working at an avocado farm in Israel.
An estimated 30,000 Thais are working in Israel’s agriculture industry, where many live near the Gaza border.
