TWO Communist Terrorist Group (LTG) members surrendered and turned over high-powered firearms to the 5th Special Forces Battalion (5SFBn) and local government officials in Barangay Miasong, Tupi, South Cotabato on August 13, 2024.
The two former rebels surrendered three M14 7.62mm Rifle, a single shot 7.62mm Rifle, a Browning Cal. 30mm Automatic Rifle, two M1 Carbine, a Cal. 30mm Rifle, and a Garand Cal. 30mm Rifle. Meanwhile, ten mass base supporters of the CTG’s Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) also withdrew their support to the said group.
The Army leadership lauded the 5SFBn troopers for facilitating the surrender of the CTG members and urged them to prevent any of the CTGs’ recovery efforts to ensure sustained peace and development in South Cotabato province.
