THE team of 41 construction workers trapped in the collapse of a tunnel was finally rescued 17 days after the accident.
Ambulances and helicopters were seen near Chinyalisaur Hospital.
The workers were rescued and transferred to the facilities.
According to media reports, an Indian Air Force Chinook helicopter was set to transfer the workers to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh, for further medical examination.
The governor of Uttarkhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, reportedly met the workers at the Chinyalisaur medical facility, and confirmed their transfer to AIMS Rishikesh.
The construction workers had been trapped for over two weeks after a section of the Silkyara tunnel collapsed following severe landslides in the Indian Himalayas on November 12.
The rescue operations were reportedly delayed after a drilling machine broke down.
The trapped workers were able to survive because rescuers were delivering them food using a 6-inch pipeline.
