5 QC barangays undergoes 14-day special concern lockdown

STARTING today, five barangays in Quezon City will undergo a 14-day special concern lockdown due to the rapid spread of coronavirus disease 2019 in the areas.

It is part of the Quezon City LGU’s program to combat the growing number of COVID-19 cases.

In connection with this, the Quezon City government has formed a team to monitor the barangays mentioned because of the high incidence of coronavirus disease 2019.

The villages were selected based on the results of the community-based quarantine.

Among the barangays subject to the 14-day special concern lockdown are Bahay Toro with 21 active cases, Culiat 72 with active cases, Sauyo 19 with active cases, Batasan Hills with 29 active cases, and Tatalon with 17 active cases.

The aforementioned areas have approximately one or two cases of COVID-19 or contracting coronavirus disease in a house.

The Quezon City LGU has ensured that the team that oversees it is knowledgeable in enforcing proper rules while the area is in lockdown.

The team was formed by the staff of the City Health Department (CHD), the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the Special Action Force (SAF), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR).

Assistant City Administrator for Operations Alberto Kimpo said extensive testing will also be conducted in the area.

The 200 members of the QCPD-AFP-SAF contingent will undergo training to ensure that the rules are clear to them.

Meanwhile, Mayor Joy Belmonte has pledged to provide relief goods to affected residents.

Hereinafter, the Quezon City government has been more focused on conducting community-based testing and quarantine.
