ARMY operating troops of the 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion recovered war materiel of the Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) members of the Southern Panay Front (SPF) Komiteng Rehiyon in the areas of Miag-ao, Panay, Iloilo on March 4, 2024.
The 61IB received multiple information from locals regarding the CNTs in the area of Miag-ao. The troops were engaged in a firefight and successfully recovered one M16 rifle, one cal.45 pistol, one rifle grenade, one bandolier, one commercial radio, four mobile cellphones, four backpacks, assorted magazines and ammunition, explosive paraphernalia, and other war materiel.
The Army leadership commended the successful operation of 61IB and expressed gratitude to the brave citizens who provided timely information regarding the CNT activities and whereabouts. The Army leadership also reiterated the call for the CNTs to peacefully surrender so that they may live a new life with their family and friends with the aid of government programs.
