CAMP LAPU-LAPU, CEBU CITY – The 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion of the Philippine Army was awarded the prestigious Campaign Streamer Award by the Visayas Command (VISCOM) for its excellent accomplishment of dismantling the Southern Panay Front (SPF) of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay (KR-Panay), Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army – National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2025 at Visayas Command, Camp Lapu- lapu, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
The Campaign Streamer was awarded by Lieutenant General Fernando M. Reyeg, Commander of the Visayas Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Major General Marion R. Sison, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division and was personally received by Lt. Col. Arturo Balgos Jr., Commanding Officer of the 61st Infantry “Hunter” Battalion.
The 61IB is the main effort in the dismantling of insurgent strongholds in the Southern Panay area, carrying out numerous operational gains that have resulted in the capture, surrender, and neutralization of key communist terrorist leaders and members. The battalion’s sustained and focused military operations have paved the way for stability, peace, and development that are bring felt by the populace of Southern Panay.
The said award symbolizes the battalion’s exceptional performance of the duties and responsibilities in attaining the mission, and the dedication, unwavering commitment, and sacrifices of every Hunter Trooper in ensuring the peace and security, and laying the grounds for a meaningful-sustainable development within the Southern Panay Region.
