8-year-old Dubai climber eyes world’s highest mountains

EIGHT-year-old Ayaan Saboor Mendon plans to climb the highest peak in Europe before his ninth birthday.

Despite his young age, Ayaan is no stranger to extraordinary achievements.

Accompanied by his supportive parents, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the African continent and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, in August of last year.

Last month, he climbed Mount Kosciuszko, the tallest mountain in Mainland Australia standing at 2,228 meters.

And for his latest feat, Ayaan is planning to conquer his third mountain – no other than Mount Elbrus – the highest and most prominent peak in Russia and Europe.

The 8-year-old undergoes an impressive training regime that would be impressive by any standards. Such as joining obstacle courses and competitions, carrying heavy weights on his back while walking, running on a treadmill, and other activities to keep him flexible and prepared for long climbs.

Ayaan is planning to set a world record of becoming the first person to climb 3 of the world’s highest peaks before the age of 9.
