RELENTLESS operations carried out by the 901st Infantry Brigade (901 Inf Bde) against Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in the Caraga Region resulted in the surrender of nine CTG members in Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte on March 9, 2024.
Five CTG members yielded to the 29th Infantry Battalion in Agusan del Norte, while the other four surrendered to the 36th Infantry Battalion in Surigao del Sur. The former CTG members handed over two M16 rifles, an AK-47 rifle, and an M79 grenade launcher with ammunition upon their surrender. It can be noted that the 901 Inf Bde is currently under the operational control of 4th Infantry Division whose area of responsibility covers the Caraga Region and Northern Mindanao.
The brigade is the primary unit tasked with securing large portion of Caraga while facilitating development and providing basic services to the people.
The Army leadership vowed to sustain its support to 901 Inf Bde and its line units to bolster the campaign to clear its area of responsibility of CTG remnants. “We are now at the stage wherein insurgency is at its lowest point and nearest extinction. It’s the right time to unite and embrace peace,” 901 Inf Bde Commander Brig. Gen. Arsenio DC Sadural meanwhile said.
