THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) co-chaired the 4th Philippines-Indonesia Military Cooperation Meeting on November 13, 2024 at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City.
The meeting was led by LtGen Jimmy D Larida PN(M), The AFP Deputy Chief of Staff, and LtGen Richard T.H. Tampubolon, Chief of General Staff of the TNI.
The annual PHILINDO Military Cooperation Meeting, held alternately between the two nations, serves as a high-level platform to strengthen military-to-military relations based on the Joint Understanding between the AFP and the TNI. This collaborative effort provides a roadmap for ongoing cooperation, enhancing bilateral military activities across various domains.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed and finalized a series of bilateral initiatives under three key sub-committees: Joint Intelligence, Joint Operations and Exercises, and Joint Education and Training. Additionally, the establishment of a Joint Logistics Sub-Committee was proposed, marking a significant expansion of the scope of collaboration between the two armed forces.
The Co-Chairs also emphasized that the PHILINDO partnership is not only aimed at improving military capabilities but also fostering deeper bonds of mutual trust, respect, and cultural understanding. Both parties affirmed that through shared experiences, strategic adaptations, and joint learning, the AFP and TNI have cultivated stronger, more responsive, and resilient military ties.
