ARCHAEOLOGISTS have made a remarkable discovery in the heart of Lima, Peru’s capital.
A 1,000-year-old mummy, believed to be from the Ychsma culture.
The mummy was found at The Huaca Pucllana archaeological site in the upscale Miraflores neighborhood.
Alongside the mummy, two ceramic vessels and textiles were also uncovered.
Lead archaeologist Mirella Ganoza expressed her fascination with the find, emphasizing the surprising preservation of the mummy.
With bent legs, the seated mummy featured long hair and a well-preserved jaw.
This discovery sheds light on the Ychsma culture, which lived south of Lima around 1,000 A.D., enriching our understanding of this ancient civilization.
