Bam Aquino quits Liberal Party to lead alternative political group

ON Tuesday morning, May 14th, former Senator Bam Aquino announced that he will be returning to the field of politics.

“We are getting ready and I’m also ready to return to the field of politics. I’m ready to be the voice of the voiceless in the Senate. I’m ready and we’re preparing for it,” Paolo Benigno ‘Bam’ Aquino IV, Former Senator said.

According to Aquino, he will be running again for senator in the 2025 elections but under the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP) political party.

KNP was formed in 2020 as a platform for youth empowerment in the national government.

Aquino has now taken over as the new chairman of the alternative political party.

While some of Aquino’s former companions in the Liberal Party (LP) are supportive of his move to KNP.

Bam Aquino ashamed of Liberal Party—Atty. Panelo

However, for former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Atty. Salvador Panelo, Aquino could now be ashamed of being associated to the Liberal Party – possibly leading to his decision to leave.

“That means only one thing. He left the Liberal Party – that means he is now ashamed of Liberal Party members [that] he has established his own [political party]. Because with the Liberal Party, in the past two elections, they failed miserably. What did they say? It’s as if [they’re] down the drain. [Yes. There are ‘dilawans’, there are ‘pinklawans’.] But I noticed, he has established a new political party but the stalwarts of the Liberal Party are there. Former VP Leni is there, former Senator Francis Pangilinan is there. What does that mean? I think because it’s no longer popular – the Liberal Party had lost its credibility which is why Bam, who said he is running for senator, it seems he wants a new political party so it’s clean – he is not dictated by the bad image of the Liberal Party,” Atty. Salvador ‘Sal’ Panelo, Former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel stated.

Based on the history of the Philippines, it’s undeniable that the Marcos and Aquino families are known to be staunch political rivals.

But it seems that the people are now noticing something different.

It appears like the ‘dilawans’ and the loyalists have joined forces as they no longer seem to be destroying one another.

A Marcos and an Aquino have already worked together in the same administration in the past where Noynoy Aquino was president and Bongbong Marcos was senator.

Recently, Bam Aquino has just declared that he is ready to show support for the current Marcos Jr. administration to help solve the numerous problems in the country.

And whether or not a Marcos and an Aquino will be working together again in the same administration – that will be determined in the next election.
