Bangladesh PM arrives in Thailand for a six-day visit

THAILAND rolled the red carpet for Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and welcomed her with a static guard of honor and a 19-round gun salute at the international airport in Bangkok.

Sheikh Hasina will stay in Thailand from the 24th through the 29th of April.

Representatives from both sides are expected to sign several cooperation documents including a letter of intent on negotiations for a free trade agreement.

Sheikh Hasina will meet her Thai counterpart Srettha Thavisin at the Government House on the 26th of April.

She will also join the 80th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on the 25th of April where she will deliver a speech.

Before her trip to Thailand, Sheikh Hasina visited Qatar where she was warmly welcomed and held talks with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the 23rd of April.

The Prime Minister’s trip to the country marks the first-ever visit at the level of head of government from Bangladesh to Thailand since both countries established diplomatic ties in 1972.
