THE death of three American soldiers at Tower 22 in Jordan near the border with Syria marked the first time US troops have been killed by enemy fire in the Middle East since the October 7 attack.
A press release issued by the United States Central Command confirmed the death of the three U.S. service members at a base in northeast Jordan, near the Syrian border.
U.S. President Joe Biden vowed to retaliate.
Iran-backed militias claimed responsibility but the Islamic Republic denied any involvement.
The attack happened a few days after Houthi rebels struck British oil tanker Marlin Luanda with a missile causing a massive fire to break out which took hours to extinguish. No one aboard the tanker, which consisted of a crew of 22 Indian nationals and one Bangladeshi national, was hurt in the strike.
