Blinken holds talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

THE U.S. Secretary of State held talks with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

Now, reports say that the U.S. government official is also expected to head to China.

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman discussed several issues in Jeddah, early on Wednesday.

In a Twitter post, Blinken said that they talked about their shared priorities, including countering terrorism through the D-ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) coalition, achieving peace in Yemen, and deepening economic and scientific cooperation.

Aside from this, the official also reportedly talked about the potential normalization of relations with Israel.

The visit comes amid strained relations due to issues such as the Iran policy, oil prices, and human rights.

Blinken to visit China in coming weeks

Meanwhile, reports say Blinken will also be heading to China in the near future.

Previously, it can be recalled that the U.S. official was supposed to head to Beijing but was canceled after the Chinese spy balloon incident earlier this year.

This time, his visit is expected to ‘thaw’ relations with Beijing.

It can be noted that deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel said that they have no travel for the secretary to announce yet and that it will be rescheduled when conditions allow.
