SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, a member of the Senate Committee on Public Services, co-sponsored House Bill No. 10839 under Committee Report No. 402, which seeks to upgrade the Land Transportation Office (LTO) district office in Mati City, Davao Oriental, from a Class “D” to a Class “C” office.
The measure aims to improve the accessibility and efficiency of LTO services in the region.
The bill, once enacted, will mandate the Department of Transportation to prioritize the operationalization of the upgraded LTO office. Initial funding will come from the current budget of LTO Region XI, with future appropriations to be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Being a resident of Davao Region, Go emphasized the importance of addressing the unique needs of communities especially in the provinces.
The upgrade is expected to enhance the LTO office’s operational capacity, which includes hiring more personnel, modernizing equipment, and streamlining services.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and a health reforms crusader, Go noted the broader implications of accessible transportation services.
By co-sponsoring the measure, Go reinforced his commitment to legislative actions that prioritize equity and accessibility in public services, ensuring that even those in the most remote areas receive the quality of governance they deserve.
Aside from this bill, Senator Go also co-sponsored 50 other bills establishing and upgrading LTO Offices in various parts of the country.
Go, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
