Bong Go distributes aid to indigent families in Davao City

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go extended aid to disadvantaged residents in Barangays Tagurano and 40-D in Davao City on April 16 and 17, respectively.

‘Yan po ang pakiusap ko parati,” said Go in a video message.

Spearheaded by his Malasakit Team, 700 poor residents received shirts, balls for basketball and volleyball, vitamins, masks, and snacks during relief activities held at the Brgy. Tagurano Gymnasium and Brgy. 40-D Hall. Shoes, a watch, and a mobile phone were also given to select recipients.

Meanwhile, the national government also distributed financial assistance to the beneficiaries.

Go’s team collaborated with Captain Danilo Camarillo for the relief operation in Brgy. Tagurano, and with Captain Felizardo Villacampa for the initiative in Brgy. 40-D.

As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go informed the victims requiring medical attention to visit the Southern Philippines Medical Center in the city, where a Malasakit Center could give them convenient access to medical assistance.

Known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service, Go principally authored and sponsored RA 11463, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that aims to help reduce patients’ hospital bills to the lowest possible amount by covering various patient services and expenses.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), 163 centers have been successfully established and have helped more than ten million Filipinos nationwide.

Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
