Bong Go extends aid to Gingoog City displaced workers

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go extended support to the underprivileged residents of Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, on Thursday, October 24.

Dubbed “Mr. Malasakit” for his consistent, compassionate service to people experiencing hardships, Go also filed Senate Bill No. 420, which aims to institutionalize a Rural Employment Assistance Program (REAP). If enacted, the primary objective of REAP is to provide temporary employment avenues for individuals facing economic hardship, poverty, displacement, or reliance on seasonal employment.

To further ease the financial burden on Filipino families, Go also co-authored and co-sponsored SBN 2534, which aims to raise the daily minimum wage by PhP100 nationwide.

The relief activity took place at the Gingoog City Comprehensive National High School, in coordination with Mayor Erick Cañosa and Board Member Robert De Lara, who have been actively partnering with Senator Go for livelihood support in the city.

Through the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, 140 qualified beneficiaries were given temporary employment.

Each beneficiary also received essential aid packages from Senator Go’s Malasakit Team containing shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs. There were also select recipients of shoes, a watch, a mobile phone, and sling bags.

Go shared his commitment to help uplift the lives of Filipinos, especially in communities hit hard by economic challenges.

Go reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to service, stating,
