IN his commitment to serve Filipinos and uplift struggling communities, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go provided assistance to indigent families in Masbate City and Dimasalang, both in Masbate province from November 24 to 26.
Go’s Malasakit Team conducted the distribution in Masbate City and Dimasalang, where they assisted a total of 914 residents. The team handed out essential items, including snacks, shirts, vitamins, masks, basketballs, and volleyballs, while select beneficiaries received shoes and mobile phones.
Meanwhile, through the efforts of Board Member Alan Cos and Dimasalang Mayor Mac Naga, the government also distributed financial support.
In his message, Go reaffirmed his dedication to supporting Masbate, especially those who need help the most. He also emphasized the importance of community resilience and solidarity in recovering from economic challenges.
“Mga kababayan ko sa Masbate, kasama ninyo ako sa pagbangon ng ating bayan. Ang layunin ko po ay magbigay ng tulong sa abot ng aking makakaya upang masiguro na walang maiiwan sa ating pagbangon,” Go said.
As the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography and a health reforms crusader, Go encouraged those with health concerns to visit the Malasakit Center located at Masbate Provincial Hospital in Masbate City.
Malasakit Centers provide a one-stop shop for accessing medical assistance from government agencies such as the DSWD, Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Principally authored and sponsored by Go, Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019 mandates the establishment of Malasakit Centers in qualified public hospitals to help poor and indigent patients with their medical expenses. To date, more than 15 million Filipinos have already benefitted from the program.
Go also took the opportunity to acknowledge the local officials for their tireless efforts in ensuring that assistance reaches their constituents.
“Salamat po sa inyong lahat sa pagsusumikap na palaging unahin ang kapakanan ng mga Masbateño. Magtulungan po tayo para sa mas maayos at mas maunlad na kinabukasan ng ating lungsod,” Go added.
Through his consistent public service and legislative initiatives, Senator Go remains dedicated to addressing the needs of Filipinos and ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward progress and recovery.
“Sa abot ng aking makakaya, asahan ninyo na lagi akong handang tumulong sa inyong lahat. Dahil yan ang aking bisyo, ang magserbisyo sa mga kababayan kong Pilipino. Magkaisa po tayo para sa isang mas maliwanag at mas magandang kinabukasan para sa ating bansa,” Go concluded.
