SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go provided support to poor residents in Tanauan City, Batangas, on Wednesday, November 27. The aid highlights his dedication to advancing public health and improving the overall well-being of Filipinos in need.
The senator, an adopted son of the CALABARZON region with familial roots in Batangas through his Tesoro side, emphasized his gratitude and commitment to his compassionate brand of public service.
“Hinding-hindi ko po sasayangin ‘yung pagkakataong ibinigay n’yo po sa akin. Magtatrabaho po ako para sa Pilipino. At iyan po ang pwede kong i-alay sa inyo, ang aking bisyo sa pagseserbisyo,” said Go in a video message, who is widely known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate dedication to helping underprivileged Filipinos.
The event, held at the Barangay Poblacion 6 covered court, saw Go’s Malasakit Team distributing vitamins, basketballs, and volleyballs to 167 individuals, composed of solo parents, senior citizens, unemployed, and vendors. Select recipients also received essential items, including shoes and a mobile phone.
Financial assistance was provided to the beneficiaries by the government in partnership with Vice Mayor Jun Trinidad.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography and a health reforms crusader, Go also extended his aid to residents who may require medical assistance. He highlighted the accessibility of Malasakit Centers in the province, including those at Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery and Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City.
These centers aim to streamline government medical assistance programs, easing the burden of healthcare costs for patients and their families.
The Malasakit Centers program institutionalized through Republic Act 11463, which Go principally authored and sponsored, has grown significantly, with 166 centers now operational across the country. The program has provided medical aid to more than 15 million Filipinos to date, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
“Sa mga nangangailangan ng tulong medikal, huwag po kayong mahihiyang lumapit sa Malasakit Center. Ang programang ito ay para po sa inyo at sa lahat ng Pilipinong nangangailangan ng suporta para sa kanilang kalusugan,” Go reminded the public.
To end, Go also emphasized his role not as a politician seeking to make empty promises but as a public servant working tirelessly for the welfare of Filipinos.
“Hindi po ako isang politiko na mangangako sa inyo, gagawin ko lang po ang aking trabaho sa abot ng aking makakaya. Ituring niyo po akong parang inyong kapitbahay na bawat oras ay pwede ninyong lapitan,” Go shared, reiterating his commitment to serve as a reliable partner for the people.
