THE federal police were called by one of the shipmasters who suspected that there were drugs hidden in the hull of the ship in Paranaguá.
During an inspection dive, a suspicious volume was identified in the sea tank of a ship that was leaving Paranaguá Bay for Africa.
The sea tank is a fully submerged compartment located in the ship’s hull that provides an inlet reservoir for cooling the vessel’s engines and systems.
Upon searching, the police and divers discovered 48 tablets totaling approximately 75.5kg of cocaine hidden in the said compartment. The drugs were seized by the police.
Authorities are investigating the incident and so far no arrests have been made.
