THE bus, carrying 39 students and 6 teachers on a school trip, caught fire on a highway north of Bangkok. The fire spread quickly, trapping many inside. Police confirmed that 23 bodies were found in the burned bus.
Trairong Phiwpan, head of the police forensic department, said the recovery of the bodies was delayed because the bus was too hot to enter.
As per local news, the driver told police that the fire started when the bus hit another vehicle and scraped a concrete barrier, causing sparks. He tried to use a fire extinguisher but ran away when he couldn’t stop the fire.
Police are checking if the bus company followed safety rules, while families try to cope with the tragic loss of their children and teachers.
As the investigation continues, police are looking into the safety of the bus, while families mourn the devastating loss of their loved ones.
