Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry collaborates with Department of Tourism

THE Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), an important private sector stakeholder group in Cebu, met with the Department of Tourism (DOT) to discuss potential areas of collaboration on Wednesday (April 17) at the Department’s Central Office in Makati City.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco sat down with CCCI’s President Jay Y. Yuvallos as the business organization now prepares for the launch of its flagship project, the Cebu Business Month (CBM), which aims to promote and grow Cebu’s business sector.

An annual event to be held every June to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of Cebu and showcase the diverse and dynamic business community in the region, CBM offers a range of programs and activities that cater to different audiences, including business owners, entrepreneurs, investors, and the general public in the areas of Tourism, ICT- BPM/Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Creative Entertainment.

Secretary Frasco welcomed their proposals with optimism, noting that the goal of the DOT is to equalize tourism opportunities across regions.

In Cebu in particular, the tourism chief said CCCI can help develop Cebu by further promoting its English As A Second Language (ESL) and dive industries, and likewise develop the province as a wedding and MICE destination to target source markets.

CCCI stressed that they are open to assisting DOT to highlight the importance of creating a high-value business ecosystem that would benefit the local tourism industry.

According to CCCI, their visit to DOT is part of its goals this year to leverage its existing programs and emphasize the profound significance of collaboration among non-government organizations, local government units, and national government agencies, including the DOT.
