CENRO Ramon Magsaysay’s rescue of juvenile Brahminy Kites in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur

THE Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Ramon Magsaysay recently rescued two juvenile Brahminy Kites in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Prompted by a local resident’s discovery near a Lauan Tree, the wildlife rescue team swiftly intervened, ensuring the birds were safely transferred to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for proper care.

Following assessment, the young raptors were deemed healthy and are now undergoing rehabilitation at the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center in Baclay, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, before their eventual release back into the wild.

While the Brahminy Kite isn’t classified as threatened, it is protected under Republic Act 9147, highlighting the importance of safeguarding our wildlife.

The DENR continues to advocate for public vigilance and encourages reporting of any wildlife sightings to ensure timely assistance. Let’s all play our part in preserving our environment for future generations.
