Chile and the Philippines hold inaugural joint meeting on agriculture

CHILE and the Philippines successfully held their first-ever joint technical working group (JTWG) meeting on agriculture.

The virtual meeting, led by the Philippine Department of Agriculture and the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture, aimed to strengthen collaboration in the field of agriculture and related areas.

During the meeting on July 6, various topics were discussed, including agroecology, organic agriculture, value chain management, digital agriculture, and knowledge exchange on processing plants and food security.

The meeting served as a significant milestone following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Agriculture by both countries on November 17, 2021, and January 4, 2022.

The participants emphasized the importance of the JTWG as a platform for exchanging best practices and leveraging each country’s strengths in agriculture.

Further meetings will be scheduled to address specific areas of agricultural cooperation, establish timelines, and monitor progress.
