China, sends humanitarian aid to the government of Sudan

THE Chinese Embassy in Sudan on Wednesday provided a batch of humanitarian aid supplies to the Sudanese government in Port Sudan.

The embassy handed over 4.6 tons of supplies including medical consumables and medicines, was originally scheduled to be delivered by a Chinese medical team aiding Sudan to a local hospital, but they were held up in Port Sudan due to the outbreak of armed conflicts.

Charge d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Sudan Zhang Xianghua officially handed over the batch of supplies to the Undersecretary of Sudan’s Ministry of Social Development Jamal Al-Nil Abdullah at a ceremony.

“The first batch of materials we handed over today includes medical equipment, medical consumables, and medicines, which will help ease the humanitarian pressure in Sudan. In addition, China also plans to provide three batches of humanitarian aid supplies to Sudan, including food, disaster relief items and medical supplies. These are expected to be delivered in August and September,”   Zhang Xianghua, Charge d’Affaires ad interim, Chinese Embassy said.

Meanwhile, the undersecretary expressed appreciation for China’s support in times of conflict.

“This batch of aid proves the strong relationship between Sudan and China which has a long history. China has consistently provided help to us. My thanks to the Chinese government and the Chinese people,” Jamal Al-Nil Abdullah, Undersecretary, Ministry of Social, Development, Sudan said.
