Chinese Naval hospital visits Solomon Islands for first time

SOLOMON Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare hailed the medical services provided by the Chinese Navy Hospital Ship Peace Ark to the South Pacific nation as the military vessel visited his country for the first time.

The floating hospital arrived in the capital of Honiara and will be docked there for a week.

The ship first set sail from east China’s Zhejiang Province on July 3.

Solomon Islands is the fourth out of five Pacific Island countries to be visited by Peace Ark as part of its Mission Harmony 2023.

Sogavare commended the Navy hospital ship for saving lives and for promoting borderless peace.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Navy hospital ship, Mercy, visited the Solomon Islands in August last year and will visit the island again in November.
