TO ensure that government services reach every Dabawenyo, the City Government of Davao, through the City Mayor’s Office (CMO), conducted a series of caravans that catered to 40, 173 clients since its first implementation in 2022.
The Barangay Caravan of Government Services first took place on July 18, 2022, and is part of the CMO’s initiative of making government services more accessible to every Dabawenyo by taking them closer to their doorsteps.
Various local and national government offices participated in the caravan, and its first year in 2022, at least 14,394 Dabawenyos were able to avail of the services offered during the Caravan.
This significantly increased the following year as more caravans were conducted in 2023. As of May 2024, the Barangay Caravan of Government Services catered to 34, 495 Dabawenyos with around 35 local and national government agencies participating in the event.
Meanwhile, the Barangayan Serbisyo Publiko, a weekend caravan of government services scheduled on Saturdays, was launched in January 2024 and intended to cater to more people.
“We conduct the BSP on Saturdays so that we can cater more people since majority are in their homes on weekends,” Maida Saez, Deputy Project-in-Charge of the BSP, said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO).
As of May 2024, the BSP was able to serve 5, 678 Dabawenyos with 40 participating local and national government agencies.
Participating in both caravans from the local government offices include the Anti-Scam Unit; City Agriculturist’s Office; City Cooperation and Development Office; City Civil Registrar’s Office; City Environment and Natural Resources Office; City Engineer’s Office; City Health Office; City Legal Office; City Planning and Development Office; City Treasurer’s Office; City Transport and Traffic Management Office; City Veterinarian’s Office; Davao City Housing Office; Educational Benefit System Unit; LINGAP; Office of the Senior Citizen; and the Public Employment Service Office.
The national government offices participating in both caravans include the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration; PAG-IBIG; Public Health Insurance Corporation; Philippine Statistics Authority; Philippine National Police; Social Security System; Armed Forces of the Philippines; and Task Force Davao.
The City Mayor’s Office, Vice Mayor’s Office, Barangay, and Cultural Communities Affairs Division, and the City Information Office are also present during the Barangay Serbisyo Caravan of Government Services along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development; Landbank of the Philippines, Land Registration Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, and the Public Attorney’s Office.
