Coast Guard, PNP interdicts boat for carrying illegal drugs in Corcuera, Romblon

IN a collaborative effort between the Philippine National Police (PNP) Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Sub-Station in Corcuera, a successful joint anti-illegal drug operation was conducted at the Port of Corcuera, Romblon last 06 April 2024.

The operation targeted suspected illegal drug activities onboard the motorbanca “Famaz Doz” docked at the said port.

After receipt of information provided by MPS Corcuera, personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard swiftly mobilized to address the reported threat.

Following a thorough coordination meeting, the operation commenced with meticulous planning and execution with joint teams from CGK9 and its sub-station in Romblon, MPS Corcuera, and local government officials.

During the K9 paneling of the motorbanca “Famaz Doz,” conducted by CG Working Dog ‘Lilian’ and its handler, two sachets of 9.5 grams of methampethamine hydrochloride commonly known as “shabu” with estimated worth of Php 82,000.00, were discovered concealed inside a balikbayan box.

The seized illegal drugs, were promptly secured by MPS Corcuera personnel in accordance with proper protocols and for the subsequent filling of cases in violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
