Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Philippines reached 7, 192

DEPARTMENT of Health (DOH) reports 211 new cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines as of 4 PM today, April 24, 2020.




The total number of cases in the country is now at 7, 192.


DOH also announces 40 new recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 762.


In the meantime, 477 people died after it increased 15 over the past 24 hours.


Just this morning, President Duterte extends the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon and other places at risk for the coronavirus disease to May 15, 2020.


Areas also under the ECQ extension include Pangasinan, Tarlac, Region 3, Region 4-A, Benguet, Mindoro Island, Albay, Cataduanes, Batanes in Luzon; Antique, Iloilo, Cebu, Cebu City, Aklan and Capiz in the Visayas region; Davao del Norte, Davao City and Davao de Oro in Mindanao.


Meanwhile, in other provinces not included in the ECQ extension will be subject to the ‘quarantine community’ which will observe ‘new normal’ which will also be implemented by May 1.
