CYPRUS braces itself for all scenarios concerning the evacuation of citizens of various nationalities as tensions soar in the Middle East.
Cypriot authorities said figures are estimated to reach more than 100,000.
The foreign nationals could come anywhere from the EU and third countries who are currently in Israel, Lebanon, and the wider Middle East region.
In this case, diplomatic sources said that Cyprus will be used as a transit point for these people, who will not stay on the island for an extended period.
Authorities are also preparing for the possibility of a major operation bigger than what was carried out during the 2006 Lebanon war between Hezbollah and Israel which killed more than 1,000 people.
Cyprus was one of the first countries to have received hundreds of foreign nationals evacuated from Israel aboard military flights and cruise ships.
