TINUTUTUKAN na ng Department of Tourism (DOT) ang pagkakaroon ng direct flights mula sa iba’t ibang bansa patungong Pilipinas.
Ito ay sa layong mas mapayabong pa ang industriya ng turismo na magbubukas ng mas maraming trabaho para sa mga Pilipino.
Ayon kay Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, nakipag-usap na ang DOT sa Philippine Airlines (PAL) para magbukas ng direct flights mula Italy na aniya ay isa sa mga napag-usapan din nila ng tourism minister ng nasabing bansa.
Kasama rin sa hiniling ng DOT sa PAL ang direct flight mula sa United Kingdom.
“We already proposed to Philippine Airlines. And we’re hopeful that Captain Stanley Ng of PAL and the organization would be able to provide the flights because it’s in high demand. Including flights as well not just from Italy to the Philippines, but UK to the Philippines. Both direct flights we have already requested to Philippine Airlines,” ayon kay Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, Department of Tourism.
Dagdag na flights mula sa ilang mga bansa patungong Pinas, tutukan ng DOT
Target din ng DOT na magkaroon ng direct flight mula sa Paris, France.
Patuloy rin ang pakikipag-ugnayan ng ahensiya sa iba pa nilang International Aviation Partners kabilang ang Emirates, Turkish Airlines, at Qatar para sa dagdag na flights patungong Cebu at Davao.
Maliban sa mga nasabing bansa, nais din ng DOT na madagdagan ang direct flights mula sa Estados Unidos at mga bansa sa Europa.
“We really like more flights from the US because the US continues to be one of the top source markets for the country. They’re in the top five. And in addition to this, we want to open up the Philippines to European travelers since our diving, our surfing, and other adventure and wellness destinations are quite in demand for these nationalities,” dagdag ni Frasco.
Samantala, patuloy ang ginagawang hakbang ng DOT para sa pagpapayabong ng iba’t ibang tourism products tulad ng golf, dive, health and wellness, at medical tourism.
Cruise Tourism ng Pilipinas, mas payayabungin ng DOT sa 2024
Tinututukan din ng ahensiya ang pagpapalawak pa ng cruise tourism portfolio ng Pilipinas bilang naparangalan ang bansa na Asia’s Best Cruise Destination sa unang pagkakataon.
“Nais po natin na mabigyan ‘yung ating other local government units all over the country na magkaroon ng oportunidad na ‘yung cruises bibisita sa kanila. Kaya masaya po tayo na may five new cruise port terminals that will be built under the auspices of the DOTr and PPA,” aniya.
