THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) held a press conference wherein Officer-In-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac said that there are OFWs who want to go home.
In a press conference held on Thursday, Cacdac said 22 Overseas Filipino Workers including 19 caregivers and 3 Hotel Workers have expressed their desire to return to the Philippines, and that the decision to repatriate was voluntary on the side of the Filipino workers.
Cacdac also assured that the bodies of the 2 Filipinos killed in the conflict would also be brought home.
He said he only needed to get clearance from the Israeli authorities to repatriate the remains of the two Filipinos.
In addition to this, there are 3 other Filipinos who are unaccounted for or missing and cannot be contacted even on their mobile phones and social media accounts.
However, some Filipinos who were rescued by Israel Defense have been placed in a safe place where Department of Foreign Affairs and DMW personnel are visiting to assist them
The DMW also confirmed the announcement by the DFA that the situation in Gaza has been raised to alert level 3
Cacdac also assured that DMW and OWWA will help the families and the children left behind by the 2 Filipinos killed amid the conflict. At the moment, only limited flights are allowed in Israel.
