DMW shuts down consultancy firm for illegal recruitment

DEPARTMENT of Migrant Workers (DMW) Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. Cacdac led the shutdown of Dream Pathway due to its illegal recruitment of Filipino nurses, caregivers, nursing aides, and welders for Canada.

“Dream Pathway is among the unauthorized entities that take advantage of Canada’s immigration programs, which are used as a gateway to Canada for temporary work before reaching permanent residency. Besides not getting the right license from the DMW, they charge excessive processing fees to the hopeful applicants,” said Usec. Hans Leo Cacdac, Officer-in-charge, DMW.

According to Cacdac, Dream Pathway is among the unauthorized entities exploiting Canada’s immigration programs used as a temporary work gateway to Canada before obtaining permanent residency.

Apart from not obtaining the proper license from the DMW, they charge excessive processing fees to hopeful applicants.

According to the DMW, through its Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB) and in coordination with local government and police officials, Dream Pathway’s main office in Mandaluyong City and its three branches in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; Apalit, Pampanga; and Lipa City, Batangas, has been permanently shut down.

The DMW-MWPB conducted surveillance operations and discovered that Dream Pathway offered various jobs in Canada with a 110,000 pesos professional fee under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) program.

Filipinos heading to Canada under the AIP should undergo contract verification and DMW documentary processing as Overseas Filipino Workers  Legal Documentation, whether it’s direct hire processing or through a licensed Philippine recruitment agency.

Cacdac also ordered Dream Pathway to face illegal recruitment charges and urged victims of the consultancy firm to contact the DMW to come forward to file cases against the agency.

The company’s officials and employees will be included in the “List of Persons and Establishments with Disreputable Records” and will no longer be allowed to participate in the Philippine government’s overseas recruitment program.

The DMW also reminded all Filipinos destined to work in Canada to undergo proper document verification and processing with the agency as Migrant Workers.
