DPWH provides support to five Zambales schools during Brigada Eskwela 2025

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) extended its support to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2025 by helping prepare public schools in Subic and Castillejos for the safe return of students.
District Engineer Rey Lerio reported that the DPWH maintenance team recently conducted clearing and repair operations to support schools ahead of the new academic year.
“Our team assisted by clearing drainage systems, addressing flooded areas, providing sandbags, repainting classrooms, and supporting general cleanup activities,” Lerio said.
In addition to technical assistance and manpower, the district office also distributed supplies such as wall paint and construction materials to help improve classroom conditions.
Five (5) schools benefited from the initiative: Ilwas Elementary School and Mangan-Vaca Elementary School in Subic, and San Agustin High School, Balaybay Elementary School, and Balaybay Resettlement Elementary School in Castillejos.
The activity underscores the ongoing partnership between DPWH and DepEd in ensuring that schools are safe, functional, and welcoming for students and staff.
“As part of our mandate, we continue to support education-related infrastructure and respond to the needs of our communities. We are proud to contribute to this annual initiative to help ensure a smooth and safe school opening,” Lerio added.
Across the country, DPWH district offices remain actively involved in Brigada Eskwela, reaffirming the agency’s broader commitment to public service beyond infrastructure development.
