THE Department of Social Welfare and Development assured the public that they will finish distributing cash aide to beneficiaries affected by the COVID- 19 pandemic before the end of the month.
Undersecretary Milo Gudmalin said that following their distribution trend, they are confident that the cash distribution will be finished soon.
Gudmalin added that so far the department already distributed over ₱6 billion to at least one million non-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.
The official added that more than ₱16.3 billion were given to 4Ps beneficiaries, through their cash cards all over the country.
While more than ₱22 billion worth of cash aid has been distributed to 4.7 million beneficiaries of the social amelioration program for those people affected by the imposed community quarantine due to COVID- 19.
Under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, the government’s Social Amelioration Program shall provide 18 million families a monthly allowance between ₱5,000 to ₱8,000 for up to two months, depending on the prevailing minimum wage rates in the area where they live.
DSWD said that SAP distribution begins Monday for residents living in Pasig, Makati and San Juan.
Last Saturday, Marikina City started the SAP distribution while Quezon City started implementing the program last Sunday.
Meanwhile, DSWD has welcomed DILG’s proposal to publicize the list of SAP beneficiaries for transparency.
Amid reports of Filipinos using the government’s cash aid for vices, the DSWD has called on recipients of the cash aid to use it properly, and purchase only their essentials.
