DUBAI’s Al Maktoum International Airport is on track to become the world’s largest and busiest, with Emirati leaders planning to deploy cutting-edge technology and improvements. Established in 2013, the international airport now serves at least 100-M travelers.
The CEO of Dubai Airport, Paul Griffiths, predicts that Al Maktoum International will handle 88.2-M passengers in 2024 and 93.8-M in 2025.
It is currently the busiest airport outside the United States.
Once the upgrades are completed, Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport is expected to handle over 160-M passengers and 12-M tons of cargo per year.
The UAE envisions the facility becoming the world’s largest airport in terms of size and passenger capacity by 2050.
