AN economist has identified irregularities in the military uniforms found at a POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga.
The sharp eye of economist Dr. Michael Batu did not miss the military uniforms found at a POGO Hub in Porac, Pampanga.
Reports from authorities suggest these might be Chinese military uniforms or from the People’s Liberation Army of China.
Upon examining the buttons and pins on the uniforms, Batu made some observations.
“I looked at the writing below the airborne patch with an eagle. Although I’m an economist, I’m also interested in military uniforms and military history. I’ve seen this before in a book, and I researched it. It turns out that this airborne patch is from the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army,” according to Dr. Michael Batu, Filipino Economist.
Batu emphasized that the 101st Airborne, also known as the ‘Screaming Eagles,’ is renowned for its expertise in all US military combat or contingency missions worldwide.
It is also an elite division or light infantry of the United States Army.
“So, when I saw this, I thought, wait a minute? Isn’t this supposedly a uniform of the PLA or People’s Liberation Army? And just this afternoon, Admar, a report came out saying these uniforms are used for scamming. But this raises more questions. Because if you’re using these uniforms to scam clients in Mainland China, why are you using patches of the American military?” Batu expressed.
Batu also noted the small size of the uniforms.
“The ones slightly higher up are small uniforms. So, I searched the average height of PLA soldiers. It turns out the average height of PLA soldiers is about 160 centimeters. They have a height requirement when recruiting, similar to the AFP. There’s also a height requirement if you join the PMA, for example. So, they can’t be too short, right?” Batu stated.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines previously stated that the military uniforms found might be mere props for scams.
The AFP also assured the public that PLA uniforms do not indicate an imminent invasion.
“The limited number of PLA (People’s Liberation Army) uniforms found suggests they are more indicative of use in deceptive activities rather than any preparation for an invasion,” said Colonel Francel Padilla | AFP Spokesperson.
“This is only a possibility because it’s hard to accuse without a basis. One possibility is that they are planted. So, they are planted to cause or provide ammunition to those who are anti-China,” Batu added.
Batu also mentioned that it’s possible a POGO employee might simply be a collector of military uniforms.
