Final decision for ECQ extension expected today

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte expected to announce today the final decision on whether to expand the enhanced quarantine community (ECQ) in areas of high COVID-19 cases.


Earlier, Presidential Spokesman Secretary Harry Roque said that the president would announce what would happen after his meeting with Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging infectious Disease (IATF)  on Monday, today.


On Saturday, the Metro Manila council convened and submitted to the IATF their three proposals, which included a proposal to extend the ECQ for two weeks from May 15-30.


A barangay in Mandaluyong City subjected to total lockdown


Another barangay in Mandaluyong City is under lockdown due to coronavirus disease 2019 threat.


The lockdown on Barangay Mauway begins in the early hours of May 11 and ends at midnight on May 13.


As a result, only health workers, frontliners, essential workers, and residents with an emergency walk will be allowed to leave their homes and the village.


Distribution of relief food packs to the said barangay will be conducted during the lockdown.


The rapid COVID-19 tests will be conducted only for selected residents in the barangay.


Meanwhile, more than 400 confirmed positive for COVID-19 have been reported, 37 dead and more than 100 recoveries in Mandaluyong City.
