Empowering Minds Against Deception: 87IB Leads Student Peace Symposium at Calapi National High School

THE 87th Infantry “Hinirang” Battalion (87IB), together with the dedicated teachers of Calapi National High School headed by Mr. Michael P. Mabulac, Ph.D., and the 2nd Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company, came together to hold a meaningful Peace Symposium for Grades 10, 11, and 12 students in Brgy. Calapi, Motiong, Samar.

This event was more than just a lecture—it was a heartfelt effort to educate and protect the youth. Students were empowered with essential knowledge about the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, equipping them to identify and resist the deceptive recruitment tactics of the CPP-NPA-NDF. A former rebel bravely shared their personal journey, recounting the painful consequences of insurgency, from disrupted lives to fractured families. Their story served as a powerful reminder of the value of peace and the importance of making informed choices.

Adding a hands-on dimension to the day, students explored a static display of military equipment used in combat operations. They also learned about the roles and responsibilities of an infantry rifle squad soldier, providing a glimpse into the life of those who serve and protect. For those inspired to take up the noble cause of national service, the 87IB shared valuable insights into military career opportunities, encouraging the students to consider a path of honor and service.

This initiative reflects the deep commitment of the 87IB and its partners to nurture the next generation with knowledge, compassion, and guidance. By reaching out to these young minds, they are fostering a future rooted in peace, progress, and unity.
