Enriching God-centered Filipino values in schools

PASTOR Apollo C. Quiboloy supports Ombudsman Samuel Martires’ proposal for a law in the Philippines mandating the teaching of  God-Centered GMRC or Good Manners and Right Conduct, in schools as a measure against corruption.

“Corruption in the Philippines has now become endemic. Corruption in the Philippines has become like a fashion. It becomes a font because money becomes power,” according to Ombudsman Samuel Martires.

As someone who handles complaints involving government officials, Ombudsman Samuel Martires warned that corruption in the Philippines has reached alarming levels.

His comments are rooted in substantial evidence gathered by the Office of the Ombudsman.

“There are government departments that you wouldn’t think are corrupt. You might think they are inactive, but they are more corrupt than other government agencies you think are corrupt,” Martires added.

Martires’ solution is to strengthen efforts in teaching good behavior, specifically Good Manners and Right Conduct or GMRC, focusing on God-centered values.

“Corruption today cannot be fought with laws alone. All our laws on corruption are post-factum or after the fact. We need a foundation that will change our behavior. As I have always been saying, we have to introduce a subject from kindergarten until college on God-centered values formation,” Martires added.

Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy of The Kingdom of Jesus Christ sees eye to eye with Ombudsman Martires, expressing his support during his live “Give Us This Day” program aired on Wednesday, September 13th.

“You know Ombudsman Samuel Martires hit the target, hit the nail, he hammered the nail right on the head. This is what I’ve been talking about. Somebody asked me before, you know, how can we root out corruption? I said let them all become a member of the Kingdom Nation because in my capacity as a citizen of a country and as a spiritual leader, I can admonish, I can preach about incorruptibility in public office, has done nothing, you know, because they are not under me,” according to Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, The Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

As a spiritual leader, Pastor Apollo emphasizes honesty, especially in handling money.

In spiritual terms, he explained that corruption cannot be eliminated unless it changes from within, which can only be achieved through spiritual repentance.

So, I love what Samuel Martires, the Ombudsman, said when he said these, take out that God-centered, Good Manners and Right Conduct aspect, and you will be a failure. You know, without God, as I told you, we can all follow the laws; you can implement all the laws of the country to curb corruption. But if you are corrupt from within, whether you are in a high position or a low position or whatever position in government or out of government, you will be a corrupt person,” Pastor Apollo added.

Pastor Apollo expressed his gratitude that there are individuals like Martires in government. The good Pastor also prays for more upright leadership among government officials so the Philippines will be more blessed.

“So your question is, what is my take on this subject? I’ve just been talking a while ago about our school implementing good manners and right conduct, and it should be God-centered. That’s why I said Ombudsman Martires really hit the nail on the head when he mentioned these. I was really so thankful that there are people like him who really are in government, and we pray that many more Samuel Martires will evolve into public office. Praise the Father,” Pastor Apollo said.
