THE former presidential assistant for economic affairs under former President Fidel V. Ramos sees the possibility of Filipinos revolting to oust President Marcos Jr. if the Philippine economy continues to go down.
“Whatever propaganda you do, it’s all a lie; it’s just what I call empty propaganda,” according to Jose Alejandrino, Former Presidential Asst., FVR.
This is how Jose Alejandrino, former presidential assistant for economic affairs under former President Fidel V. Ramos, described the gimmicks and deliberate avoidance of the Marcos administration regarding the true state of the Philippines.
In an exclusive interview with SMNI News, Alejandrino stated that the country’s economy is plummeting due to widespread corruption and greedy politicians, which deters investors.
“First of all, there are no foreign investors coming in, and the reason for it is twofold. One is that there’s massive corruption in the government, which this government is doing nothing about. It’s not addressing the problem of corruption. Why? Well, because those who are corrupt are within their circle of the government, and they are making hay while the sun shines,” Alejandrino added.
Apart from corruption, foreign investors are also hesitant to invest in the Philippines due to the looming war between the country and stronger nations.
“Secondly, investors are staying away from the Philippines because they don’t want to invest in a country that might be the next battleground between the US and China. They’re not crazy,” he added.
So, it’s no wonder why investors prefer to put their money in other countries.
Alejandrino also questioned the results of BBM’s international visits.
“I remember his son, Sandro, justifying his father’s travels, saying our return of investments are going to be in the tens of billions of dollars. Now they’re trying to justify why they’re spending too much money on traveling. Today, I ask Sandro, where are those investments, your tens of billions of dollars you’re boasting of? I said, where is your return of investments from your father’s travels? Where is it? Where is the ROI, the return on investment from your father’s travels? You tell me, where?” he added.
He emphasized that since President Marcos Jr. took office, the Philippines has become the “worst performer” in ASEAN.
Where are the jobs Marcos Jr. promised for Filipinos?
Alejandrino criticized the administration for borrowing more and more money just to keep our ailing economy alive.
But aside from the economic decline, Alejandrino stated that the severe problem the country faces is the Marcos administration’s neglect in solving the issues affecting the daily lives of ordinary citizens.
In the end, he warned that if the severe hardship of Filipinos persisted, the entire nation could be forced to revolt to oust Marcos from his position.
“And when you have an economic crisis that I foresee coming, it will create a revolution,” he ended.
