First-ever Recreational Safety Division launched in Boracay

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Coast Guard Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) in collaboration with the Local Government of Malay and the Department of Tourism (DOT) activated the first-ever Recreational Safety Division (RSD) in Boracay today, 11 April 2025.

A solemn blessing of the RSD was led by  MSSC Commander, Vice Admiral Joseph Coyme PCG,  together with the Command Chaplain, Commodore Lowie Palines PCG and other PCG officers.

According to Vice Admiral Coyme PCG, the activation of the RSD marks the operational beginning of a proactive, community-driven approach to tourism safety.

It is in line with the Command’s thrust for dynamic initiatives for a more ready, reliable, and relevant Coast Guard service — a way forward in redefining the standards of recreational safety in the Philippines.
