Foreign tourists flock to Japan as post-pandemic recovery continues

ACCORDING to official data, Japan welcomed nearly 3 million foreigners in February, the highest figure ever recorded since the onslaught of the global pandemic.

The largest number of travelers came from South Korea followed by Taiwan and China.

The tourism industry in Japan had declined for more than two years at the height of the pandemic.

However, the weak yen helped attract foreign visitors to the country, which in turn slowly revived its economy from tourism slumber.

Meanwhile, Japan hopes to attract wealthy travelers from Southeast Asia, especially during the 2025 World Exposition in western Japan.
