Going Digital: DOT-NCR bridging the Tourism Industry to Digital Transformation

THE National Capital Region (NCR) Office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) is making significant strides in its digitalization initiatives.

Recently, the DOT-NCR hosted a Digitalization Focus Group Discussion with Klook, Asia’s leading travel and experiences platform. Stakeholders from accredited travel agencies, tour operators, tour guides, attached agencies, and digital platform companies were invited to discuss tourism product development, the tourism landscape, local product development, the tourism value chain, and digital platforms.

In her opening remarks, Regional Director Sharlene Zabala-Batin explained the direction where the National Capital Region is heading, vis-a-vis, addressing the three pronged agendas of the DOT – utilizing technology and digitalization efforts to ensure the tourism experience of all the local and international guests be seamless and enjoyable.

Under the leadership of Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, the DOT is aggressively pursuing efforts to integrate digital technologies into tourism services and infrastructure.

Aligned with the 7-Point Agenda of the DOT’s National Tourism Development Plan 2023-2028, the DOT-NCR is embracing the digital transformation of travel experiences in the 21st century. Several initiatives have been implemented to redefine tourist experiences in Metro Manila.
