THE prime minister of Greece called for the creation of a security fund that will help bolster European defensive cooperation in the face of an imminent war.
A wave of anxiety has gripped Europe amid rumors of war in the region. The perception of an imminent threat caused defense leaders and armed forces to ponder the future of collective defense in Europe.
Is Europe ready for World War Three?
This hypothetical question has spilled anxiety among European countries. The war in Ukraine has redefined geopolitics in the region, with the West pointing their fingers at Russia as the warmonger.
Even Josep Borrell, EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, previously said that full-scale conflict in Europe is “no longer a fantasy.”
With war jitters activated in the region, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis called for the creation of a European Security Fund after meeting his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Friday.
According to Mitsotakis, the fund will allow joint borrowing between European nations to meet common challenges, such as anti-missile defense.
As the West blames Russia for causing war jitters in Europe, Chinese state media came in its defense by criticizing the U.S. for trying to make the world believe that World War III is imminent, and how Washington earns huge profits by instigating war and conflicts worldwide.
