Groups to hold Interfaith prayer rally for Marcos-Duterte

FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte recently alleged that President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. uses cocaine.

In retaliation, Marcos claimed that the former President was under the influence of fentanyl, a painkiller.

This exchange between Marcos and Duterte is seen by religious groups as detrimental to the nation.

To mend the rift between the former and current leaders of the Philippines, various religious organizations across the country will hold a national interfaith prayer rally.

“We invite everyone to join and lead a nationwide prayer gathering that we will organize together with all religious groups all over the Philippines so that our country, in their time and at this point in time, can approach God,” according to Greco Belgica.

Belgica is a member of the Covenant for the Nation group or similar faith leaders who want Marcos and Duterte to reconcile.

According to them, the only solution is to turn to prayer.

“Humble yourselves and ask for guidance to bless our country, and you know if they both desire to make a better Philippines,” he stated.

Belgica stated that the idea is supported by major religious groups, and there is hope for resolving the conflict between the two sides.

The group also aims to prevent the threat of another EDSA People Power uprising.

This outcome is not far-fetched if the feud between Marcos and Duterte continues.

“We are happy to say that former President Rodrigo Duterte has responded positively to this prayer gathering,” he added.

Belgica also mentioned that they have spoken with the family of PBBM for an official invitation.

The group will finalize the details of when and where the activity will take place.

“We are calling on everyone to join us in this call together with the churches, former government officials, and former soldiers and police officers, and I’m happy to announce that all major religious groups have already given their positive response to join,” Belgica said.
