SENATOR Risa Hontiveros called on the Department of Health and PhilHealth to review the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of Universal Health Care Law.
This follows the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to make the payment of the PhilHealth premiums voluntary to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
She said both agencies need to be sensitive in implementing such laws especially as the country faces a health crisis.
The senator added that it is necessary to consult with OFWs before implementing them as they are among the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
She also said that there must have a representative from OFWs for the government to understand that their status is not the same and that it must be taken into consideration.
This is after many overseas Filipino complained about an increase of 3% from their monthly wages to pay their premiums.
