IDF exposes Hamas tunnel at Al-Shifa Hospital, recovers abducted woman’s body

ISRAELI military exposes Hamas tunnel at Al-Shifa Hospital, recovers body of abducted woman, sparking tensions.

The Israeli military uncovered a Hamas tunnel at Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in the area.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) also released footage showing a tunnel entrance at Al-Shifa, surrounded by debris. The IDF alleges ongoing excavation. Similar tunnels were claimed at Rantisi Hospital, with weapons found at Al-Quds Hospital.

IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus toured the hospital’s MRI unit, displaying what he claimed was military equipment found there, Conricus also pointed at what he describes as a grab bag which contains a rifle and other munities allegedly belonging to a Hamas fighter.

Aside from various weapons found by the IDF in certain areas in the hospital, the IDF spokesman also pointed to a laptop which he said provided “a lot of incriminating evidence.”

Meanwhile, The IDF said it received the body of 65-year-old Yehudit Weiss, allegedly taken by Hamas during an October 7 attack. Her husband, Shmulik Weiss, was murdered. Yehudit’s body was found near Shifa Hospital.

AK-47s, RPGs, and other military equipment were also found where Yehudit’s body was located.

Yehudit, who worked with kindergarten children, was abducted from her home in Kibbutz Be’eri. Hamas denies this, while the U.S. acknowledges intelligence findings without details.

In response, Hamas once again refuted Israel’s claim that there were weapons and a command center within the hospital. Hamas also said that the Israeli army’s saying of weapons found in the Al-Shifa Complex is “a blatant lie that serves to justify its crime aimed at destroying the healthcare sector in the enclave.”
