“Ilapit ang serbisyong medikal sa komunidad” — Bong Go lauds groundbreaking of Super Health Center in Argao, Cebu

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, expressed his push for accessible healthcare as he supported the groundbreaking ceremony of a Super Health Center in Barangay Lamacan, Argao, Cebu, on Tuesday, December 3.

“Health is wealth. We should continue investing in our healthcare sector,” Senator Go remarked, emphasizing his commitment to bringing government medical services closer to Filipinos, particularly in underserved areas. “Ang kalusugan ay katumbas ng buhay ng bawat Pilipino.”

The Super Health Centers initiated by Go aim to provide essential health services within reach of communities, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for basic medical treatments. These centers offer services such as consultations, laboratory tests, maternal and child care, and other primary healthcare needs.

Highlighting his role in supporting healthcare initiatives, Senator Go shared that funding for 21 Super Health Centers has been allocated for the province of Cebu. Nationwide, more than 700 Super Health Centers are funded through the collaborative efforts of Go, the Department of Health (DOH) led by Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, local government units (LGUs), and fellow lawmakers.

“Ang Super Health Centers ay strategically located para yung mga residente ay hindi na kinakailangan pang bumyahe ng malayo para lang magpagamot,” he said.

“Through these Super Health Centers, we are ensuring that every Filipino, regardless of their location, has access to quality healthcare. This is a testament to the government’s commitment to prioritize the health and well-being of its people,” Go added.

The senator extended his gratitude to the local officials of Argao for their collaboration in making the project a reality. He particularly acknowledged Mayor Allan Sesaldo, Vice Mayor Orvi Ortega, and Councilors Herculene Rizon, Jag Bacalso Lucero, Elizer Canada, Venerando “Randy” Villaflor, and Reno Rhine Mamac for their hard work and dedication.

In line with his advocacy for accessible healthcare, Senator Go’s Malasakit Team distributed relief items, such as grocery packs, snacks, shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs, to barangay health workers who attended the event. The gesture underscores his recognition of the critical role played by frontline health workers in delivering services to the community.

As a health reforms crusader, Senator Go reaffirmed his commitment to advancing initiatives that uplift the healthcare sector. “Let us continue to work together to ensure that no Filipino is left behind when it comes to health services. This is not just about building infrastructure; this is about saving lives and securing a better future for every Filipino.”

The Super Health Center in Barangay Lamacan, once completed, will stand as a symbol of hope and progress for the people of Argao and nearby communities, reaffirming the government’s mission to prioritize health and well-being for all.
