INDIA is set to embrace the potential of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) by allocating a huge fund to oversee its development in the country.
The Union Cabinet recently approved about $1.24 billion for the so-called Artificial Intelligence Mission.
The initiative, slated for the next five years, aims to put India at the forefront of AI innovations through strategic programs and partnerships across the public and private sectors.
The mission also seeks to implement AI in India’s critical sectors such as health, agriculture, and education.
Earlier this month, India introduced the country’s first AI teacher named Iris currently assigned at a school in Kerala.
Created by Maker Labs, experts consider the robot as a tool to ‘redefine the learning landscape’ and push the boundaries of ‘what’s possible’ in India’s education sector.
